The foot is the foundation of support for your entire body. Proper foot alignment is essential for your body to function as it should. The foot is made up of 28 bones, 30 joints, and more than 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments, all of which must work together to provide support, balance, and mobility.
While a nerve irritation or compression in your low back can cause foot pain, this is not usually the case. Some common causes of foot pain include plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, sesamoiditis, neuromas, neuropathy, sprains and strains, and bunions. Adjustments of the foot or ankle can help restore alignment, proper function and alleviate pain. Cold Laser can help accelerate healing and reduce inflammation and pain. Frequently, better shoes and/or orthotics are also needed to fully resolve the problem.
Chronic foot should be evaluated by a Podiatrist. Fortunately, we have a Podiatrist, Dr. Dennis Robinson, DPM, available here in the office. Dr. Robinson can be reached at (512) 930-3753.
